What We Believe

At Wilder Christian Church, we stand firmly on the truth of Scripture. Here is what we believe:

God

God is the Creator and Sovereign over all things. He has eternally existed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three co-equal persons, yet one God.

Scripture: Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus

Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose again on the third day, ascended to Heaven, and will one day return for His people.

Scripture: Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He convicts people of their need for Christ, lives within believers from the moment of salvation, and empowers, teaches, and guides them daily.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12; 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18

Eternity

Human beings were created for eternal existence. We will either spend eternity separated from God in Hell or united with Him in Heaven through salvation in Christ.

Scripture: John 3:16; 14:17; Romans 6:23; 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-9

The Bible

The Bible is God’s inspired Word. Written by human authors under the Spirit’s guidance, it is the ultimate authority for Christian belief and practice and is completely true without error.

Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160; 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

People

People are created in God’s image with great potential for good, yet all are affected by sin, which separates us from God and causes brokenness in life.

Scripture: Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2

Salvation

Salvation is a gift of God’s grace received through faith. We cannot save ourselves. A Christian submits to Jesus as Lord, responding with belief, repentance, confession, baptism, and a life of discipleship.

Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-10; Acts 2:38, 4:12; Romans 10:9; 12:1-2; Philippians 2:11; 1 John 1:9

End Times

Christians hold various views on the end times, but this is not a salvation issue. We affirm the literal return of Christ and the coming judgment when every knee will bow, and every tongue confess Him as Lord.

Scripture: Acts 1:11; Hebrews 9:27-29; Philippians 2:10
